Sci Fi TV News of Note:

A sequel series to Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is in the works to be titled Avatar: Seven Havens. Original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will be onboard and it will take place after the events of The Legend of Korra. Following is the official logline:

Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.

The show is currently in production and Nickelodeon has committed to 26 episodes that will air across two seasons to be referred to as Book 1 and 2. Expect this one to hit the cable channel late 2025 or early 2026.

Marvel Television has announced that it has paused production on three previously announced projects: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror Inc.  None of the three had been officially picked up to series, though there is still a chance they could go forward.  They have shifted down in priority because “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next” according to Marvel Studios’ Head of TV Brad Winderbaum.

Two genre entries received renewal announcements this week with Hulu’s mystery box series Paradise getting a second-season nod and the CBS supernatural comedy Ghosts getting picked up through its sixth season.

In production news, work has begun on the D&D-based The Forgotten Realms, The Boys prequel series Vought Rising, and the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake.  You can read more about those at this link.  In additional news, filming has wrapped on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 which could have it on track to premiere later this year.  The final episode of Good Omens also wrapped filming and should arrive on Prime Video at some point this year.

Two premiere dates were revealed this week with HBO announcing April 13th for the arrival of Season 2 of The Last of Us and April 12th leaking out as the premiere for the new season of Doctor Who.
