Status: There has been no word on a second season for this show, and Kristen Ritter has said about a follow up: “I don’t think we are doing it again. It was never intentioned to do it again”. But she also said: “if I was given another opportunity, I would.” The solo series for each of The Defenders are still moving forward, and it is possible that at some point those could transition to the Disney streaming service which starts up in 2019. I believe its possible that either Netflix or Disney will bring The Defenders back together at some point, but for now consider this show on an extended hiatus.
