Why Was It Cancelled? The cancellation of this show came as somewhat of a surprise considering that lower-rated Van Helsing was was renewed by the network in the same season. Z Nation was at series lows in ratings in Fall 2018, but I was thinking that it would still get at least one more season. The show is relatively inexpensive to produce and another year would get it past the eighty episode mark which would make it more attractive for syndication. But Syfy does not own this show and only makes money from the advertising revenue which is driven by the same day Nielsen ratings. Apparently the show’s studio The Asylum was not able to work out a deal with the network to keep it going for another year. But a prequel series is in the works at Netflix titled Black Summer which takes place during the early days of the zombie outbreak. It is possible that The Asylum could try to make a deal with the streaming service to continue Z Nation on that venue, especially if the fifth season concludes on a cliffhanger. I have seen that Z Nation fans were already lobbying for a sixth season, so they should probably direct their efforts towards Netflix to convince that streamer to pick the show up.

I assume Netflix will have more seasons at some point, but Syfy’s deals with the streaming services are pretty erratic, so it is hard to say.

The fourth season of this show is on the in Fall 2017 and I expect a fifth year to follow because this has been one of Syfy’s highest rated shows.

Z Nation is The Walking Dead with a good sense of humor! Don’t get me wrong, Walking Dead is great, but these characters are CHARACTERS! I loved the origin story episode especially…
i didn’t like this show at first. but it is really creative and so so funny. the cast is fantastic. the black girl has an incredible body. murphy is the star. great show.

OMG WHY , why would you end this show I rated this show a 5 on my Netflix you guys could get SO MUCH MONEY if you guys add children more story and action this could be the new walking dead. PLEASE at least make a reasonable ending

Saw this show and caught up with all of it so far. I admit it is a plot somewhat like ” The Walking Dead”, but these days the apocalypse seems to be getting everyones attention. I really like this show. I hope to get to see the coming shows as I too was impressed with the effects and the characters of this show. Great Job guys! Lets hope these zombies just get a bit slower in motion. Their movements are so fast i cant see how the humans have time to escape and think at the same time.

Murphy shouldn’t have ran away. now CitizenZ is fucked up and wont be able to guide them b/c he decided it would be good to make all these nukes launch and fuck everyone up. WHY. I hope Citizen Z and his dogeh get saved b/c i dont want them to die, tf happened to mac when he ran after addy? what happened to 10k’s gf (i didnt catch her name the entire season)???? WILL DOC LIVE!? WILL THEY MAKE IT IN TIME TO ESCAPE THE NUKE!? I did some research. the nukes launched have a blast radius of between 1-7 square miles, somewhere in there, the transit van, the one murphy left in, can go a max of 60 mph and he left with like 4 minutes left, so he can possibly escape it if hes lucky, the gang left with like 2 minutes left and can go about 100mph or so, so they would get about 3 ish miles away, and the murderous doctor will go boom. I HOPE FUCKING CITIZEN Z SURVIVES LIKE DAMN

I LOVE Z- Nation!!! I enjoy it every Friday night, and so does my husband! !! I am so glad there will be a season 3, and I hope there will be many more! !! We love all the actors, and hope to watch Lucy grow up with her daddy! ! Great job SyFy! !!!
Ain’t that the truth, I have been glued to netflix watching it and I am 2 episodes away from finishing season 2 and I really need to see if 10k hits 10k or not.
