Description: UNDER THE DOME is based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel about a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome. CBS.com

Why Was It Cancelled? This show came out of the gate in Summer 2013 with huge ratings and was considered a major off season hit.  But those numbers have dropped each season since to the point that CBS decided to cancel the show.  It did have a partnership with Amazon (for exclusive streaming after the live broadcast) as well as international financing backing it which made it profitable before it even aired.  But apparently CBS decided that viewership had just dropped to low.  The final episode of its third season is designed to act as a series finale.

  1. “Under the Dome” wasn’t never a great series, but it was interesting enough to watch on a semi-regular basis. But this season is beginning to go the way of “Helix” with an increasingly stupid storyline that is being dragged out, along with annoying characters.

Why does Hollywood insist on making scifi so incredibly insipid, hackneyed and predictable?
