Why Watch It?

This series got off to a promising start in the Fall of 1993 as sort of an underwater alternative to the Star Trek shows that were airing in syndication at that time. After a somewhat action-oriented pilot, it shifted its focus to science fiction and speculative fiction and delivered a pretty strong genre entry in Prime Time through most of its first season. It also had a decent cast led by Roy Scheider, Ted Raimi, Stephanie Beacham, and more. Sadly, though, it started to veer into Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea territory as it devolved into creature-of-the-week episodes by the end of its first year, and it all too often had super-teen Lucas or intelligent talking dolphin Darwin save the day. In its second season, the show went through some behind-the-scenes changes and leaned into more action-oriented plots. Then the third season took the show through a near reboot and left the heads of many fans spinning. Still, throughout the ever-evolving run of seaQuest DSV, it delivered some good episodes along with characters that the audience got attached to. It was cancelled after its third season and never got the chance to tie all its storylines up, but many who watched the show during its initial run still have fond memories of it. Where Is It Streaming?

All three seasons of the show are streaming at Peacock, and you can watch with or without ads depending on which subscription tier you choose. The show is also streaming for free (with ads) at Xumo Play. That appears to be a relatively new service that I was not aware of which has live streaming channels (the ones you can pick up with a digital antennae as well as those available on Pluto TV and other services) as well as On Demand streaming programming. I will be searching through that service in the coming week or so and report back on what else it has available for streaming. Note that the third season is found under its own entry as seaQuest 2032.
