Cancellation Watch: Status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.
Status Updates
Terminator Zero (Netflix, Status: Renewal Possible): Netflix has yet to make an official announcement on this series, but the Latin Twitter account for that service apparently put a post out last October suggesting a second season would happen. It is just a pic that shows what could be season 2 of the show along with other upcoming Netflix animated entries. I have not seen anything for this one in Production Weekly yet, and there has been no other word on it, so perhaps a second season of this one is in the works even though it did not chart in its first year. I was on the verge of moving the show to Bubble status since there has been no official update, but I will hold off at this point.
Twilight of the Gods (Netflix, Status: On the Bubble): There has been no word on the status of this animated entry since it premiered in September 2024, so I am moving it to Bubble status. The show did not chart during its first season run, and even though it ended on a cliffhanger, there has been no official indication that it will continue to a second season. Zack Snyder has said that “we definitely are talking about it” and “we know what we want to do”, but the streamer has not given this one a greenlight yet. Fans may want to make some noise on the social media sites to help its prospects at this point.
Creepshow (Shudder, Status: On the Bubble): Doing a deep dive through the internet, I’m hearing that this horror anthology has been renewed for a fifth season, but I cannot find an official confirmation. It has performed well for Shudder across its first four years and currently holds an 85% Fresh Rating and 77% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. It usually shows up during Halloween season, but October 2024 came an went with no new episodes released. In addition, I have not seen anything on Production Weekly for a fifth season. I am keeping this one at Bubble status for now, and fans should probably make some noise to get Shudder/AMC pushing forward on another season of the show.

Cancellation/Renewal Score:
As expected, Apple TV+ announced the renewal of Severance last week which now has it heading into a third season. In addition, Paramount+ gave its supernatural drama School Spirits the greenlight for a third season which has the score for the 2024-25 season currently at 25 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (51% of shows tracked) vs 13 cancelled and ending (27%).
