Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.
Sci Fi TV News of Note:
Daredevil: Born Again has brought back Daredevil, Kingpin, The Punisher, and more and firmly established that they are in the MCU. And now it looks like even more characters from the Netflix Marvel shows could be on their way to join them. Marvel insider Alex Perez has said on his Q & A at The Cosmic Circus that the Defenders will be returning in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: BA. That includes Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). Perez was also asked if Electra would return, but he did not confirm that. Ritter and Colter have both previously expressed an interest in returning to the characters, and with the early success of the new Daredevil series, it is possible that each could spin off into their own shows or do specials like the upcoming one planned for The Punisher. This is a developing story, so stay tuned for updates.
Ronald D. Moore has joined Amazon’s television adaption of God of War and he has confirmed that the show will continue to a second season: “Amazon has ordered two seasons . . . and they’ve asked me to come in. So I’m literally in the writer’s room, and working on that.” The series is based on the Sony Playstation video game of the same name that follows a Spartan warrior who becomes the God of War and goes on his brutal quest for vengeance against the gods of Greek and later Norse mythology. Moore jumped onboard as showrunner late last year after the previous team left over creative differences. At this point, the show is probably looking at a late 2025 or early 2025 premiere.
Two renewals were announced this past week with Severance getting picked up for a third season by Apple TV+ and School Spirits getting the greenlight for a third year from Paramount+. Also, the upcoming sixth season of Solar Opposites has been announced as the show’s last by Hulu.

Schedule Notes:
I had originally seen scheduling info indicating that Daredevil: Born Again would only release six episodes before going on hiatus, but apparently nine are planned through April. That show will then take a break with the remaining eight from the first season arriving later this year. And it is looking like they may count those episodes as the second season, though that is unclear at this point. Currently, we are at a low point of only four sci fi/fantasy shows on the schedule releasing new episodes, and we won’t see anything new from Ghosts until early April. Next month will bring a few more premieres, but the number of genre entries is definitely down this year as I discuss in more detail at this link. Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for April and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.
