Sci Fi TV Highlights: Season Finale for Severance, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Could Be Headed to a 2nd Season, and More

Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Schedule Notes:

Two shows will be wrapping up this week and it will bring us to the lowest count of sci fi TV entries that we have seen on the schedule for quite a while. Severance has its Season 2 finale on Friday on Apple TV+, and while there has not been an official renewal for that one yet, I expect an announcement shortly. Max’s Harley Quinn wraps up its fifth season on Thursday, and there has been no word on a sixth year of that one yet. There are no more premieres scheduled for March at this point, so next week there will be only four genre entries on the schedule releasing new episodes. April has more sci fi TV on the way, though, so that will bolster the lineup some. Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for April and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg, will be debuting on HBO later this year, and apparently work has already begun on a second season. Martin made the following comment when talking to Collider about the series:

I’ve seen Dunk and Egg, the first season, and it’s great, and now they’re working on the second season. Those are two characters were really special to me, and they’re unusual, those characters. They’re not what most people would expect in a fantasy story.

HBO has not officially announced a renewal at this point, but it appears that the creative team wants to get a jump on that to reduce the gap between seasons. A premiere date has not been announced for the show yet, but it will likely bow in Summer 2025 or later.

The second season of Andor is set to premiere on April 22nd, and in a lead up to that, Disney+ is making the show available on Hulu as well as YouTube.  On the latter service, the first three episodes are currently available to stream for free (with ads).

Disney+ announced this past week that its fantasy series Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be continuing to a third season. The second season of that show is set to premiere in December 2025.

In scheduling news, Netflix has set April 10th as the premiere date for Black Mirror Season 7. That will consist of six episodes and you can see the trailer below.

In casting news, Peter Sarsgaard (The Batman) has joined Neuromancer on Apple TV+ and he will be playing the character John Ashpool. That show will likely premiere late 2025 or early 2026.  Over at HBO, Jason Ritter (Raising Dion) will be joining Lanterns in the role of Billy Macon.
