Percy Jackson and the Olympians Has Been Renewed for a Third Season Ahead of Its Second Season Premiere

Coming as no surprise, Disney+ has given the greenlight for a third season of its fantasy series Percy Jackson and the Olympians ahead of the show’s second season premiere which is scheduled for December 2025. That one spent seven weeks in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings during its first year, averaging an estimated 543 million minutes of viewing per week during that period. It has also received good marks from critics and viewers, currently holding a 91% Fresh Ratings and 79% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. The early renewal for the third season will allow the creative team to get a jump on that and cut down the gaps between seasons (fans are currently having to wait two years for the second season of the show). In addition, this gives Disney+ another viable franchise beyond the MCU and Star Wars. Rick Riordan had the following to say about the renewal and the upcoming third season:

We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!

Since the second season will not premiere until December, this renewal will count for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Cancellation/Renewal Score for the 2024-25 season currently stands at 23 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (47% of shows tracked) vs. 13 cancelled and ending (27%).
