Sci Fi TV Production Report: Work Begins on Foundation Season 4, Paradise Season 2, and The Punisher Special

Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the series will move forward.

Following are the genre entries of note included in the listings from 2/27/2025:

Foundation (Apple TV+): There has not been an official fourth season renewal announcement for this one yet, but the writers’ room has been assembled for that and now the show is in the latest Production Weekly list. It has performed well for Apple TV+ so far and it has received good marks from critics and viewers, so I expect that we will be hearing something on this one soon. Showrunners Josh Friedman and David S. Goyer have departed from the show, but Ian Goldberg (Fear the Walking Dead) will be coming onboard and the third season should premiere at some point in 2025.

Paradise (Hulu): This series received a second season renewal last week and that is now showing up in the Production Weekly listings. That should have it on track to premiere either late 2025 or early 2025.

The Punisher (Disney+): The Punisher, played by John Bernthal, will be returning in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series and now Disney+ has announced a stand-alone special featuring the character.  Details about the production are not available at this point but Bernthall will be involved with writing it and it has been added to the Production Weekly list.

Other genre entries from the current listings: Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 (Netflix), Ghosts Season 5 (CBS)
