Sci Fi TV News of Note:
An anime series based on the Sucker Punch Productions video game Ghost of Tsushima is in the works at Crunchyroll. The specifics of the series have not been revealed yet, but the game takes place in feudal Japan when the Samurai’s had a notable presence and it is inspired by Japanese folktales and mythology. This will probably premiere on the streaming service later this year or early 2026.
Production has begun on a reboot movie of the NBC Grimm TV series and that will stream on Peacock. The original creative team is involved, but there is not a lot of information on the project at this point. Other shows that have started production include Lanterns (HBO), Testaments (Hulu), and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 (Paramount+) and you can read more about those at this link.
Apple TV+ is partnering with The Roku Channel to make the first season of Severance free to stream (with ads) this coming week to build up interest in the arrival of the second season (which premieres on Friday, see above). Season 1 will be streaming on that channel until January 19th.
