Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the series will move forward.
Following are the genre entries of note included in the listing from 12/19/2024:
Nova (Disney+): A project based on the Marvel character Nova was announced back in 2022, and there is now finally some movement on that. Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds) has come onboard as writer and showrunner for the planned television series (stepping in for Sabir Pirzada who previously worked on Moon Knight), and this one is showing up in the most recent Production Weekly listing. The series will focus on Richard Rider who takes over as leader of the galactic defense force known as the Nova Corps. That group appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, but not the Richard Ryder character. This will likely be a limited series as that is the direction Disney+ has been going with its MCU projects, but there is a possibility it could continue to additional seasons if viewership is good. Expect to see this one arrive at some point in 2026.
Silo Season 4 (Apple TV+): This post-apocalyptic entry has been renewed through its fourth season (which will be its last), and series star Rebecca Ferguson had previously indicated that Seasons 3 and 4 would be filming back-to-back. That has now been confirmed, and Season 4 is showing up on the most recent list from Production Weekly. With both currently in production, that could have the third season on track to premiere late 2025 and the final season arriving in 2026. The second season is currently releasing episodes weekly and will wrap up on January 17th.
In additional production news, filming has finally wrapped on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things after eleven months. That should have it on track to premiere at some point in 2025.
Note that due to the holidays, the next production listing will not be available until January 2nd.
