Cancellation Watch: Dune Prophecy Continues to Perform Well for Max, Creepshow Moves to Bubble Status, and More

Cancellation Watch: Status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.

Status Updates

Dune: Prophecy (Max, Status: Renewal Possible): This Dune prequel series continues to perform well across platforms, and it is pulling in notable streaming viewership according to The Wrap. Showrunner Allison Schapker has been asked to start working out storylines for a second season, so we could hear an announcement on this one soon.

Creepshow (Shudder, Status: On the Bubble): It has been over a year since the fourth season of this horror anthology premiered, and there has been no word on a fifth year of the show. It has performed well in digital viewing for Shudder and has also pulled decent numbers for its encore runs on AMC, but it seems odd that there has been no announcement on a fifth season yet. I will be moving this one to Bubble status, and fans should certainly make some noise on the social networks if they want this series to stick around.

Agatha All Along (Disney+, Status: Mini-Series): This show returned to the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the week of its finale, pulling in an estimated 744 million minutes of viewing. It is intended as a close-ended mini-series, which is the direction Disney+ is taking with most of its MCU shows, though there are talks of a spin-off that would focus on the search for the Scarlet Witch’s son Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed. The viewership for Agatha appears to have been strong enough, so the story could continue at some point.
