Sci Fi TV News of Note:

A television adaptation of the book series The Captive’s War is in the works from Expanding Universe. That company was recently created by The Expanse showrunner Naren Shankar and director Breck Eisner along with writers Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (who write together under the pseudonym of James S.A. Corey). The Captive’s War is a new trilogy from Corey, and the first book–The Mercy of Gods–came out in August. Following is the description for the television series adaptation:

Set in a distant future of galactic empires and alien civilizations, and inspired by the biblical Book of Daniel, The Captive’s War follows a group of prisoners who rise from the ashes of catastrophe to destroy their conqueror’s society from within. It is an epic tale about the transformative power of individuality in a totalitarian world.

The series is being developed at Amazon MGM Studios which would likely have it headed to Prime Video. Since this is very early in the development stage, it likely will not premiere until 2026 at the soonest.

Twisted Comics is working on an adaptation of Netflix’s Black Mirror described as “immersive comic books comprising iconic Black Mirror storylines”.  No writers or artists have been announced for the book yet, but it should make it to the stands mid-2025.

In Cancellation and Renewal news, the Executive producer of of the animated Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has confirmed that the show will not be returning for second season. Meanwhile, MGM+ has given a fourth season renewal to its sci fi/horror series From, and Disney+ has announced a third season of its animated anthology Star Wars: Visions.

In production news, filming has wrapped for the long-awaited Peacemaker Season 2 which should have that one on track for a 2025 premiere.  In addition, filming has started on the second season of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and that should premiere either later 2025 or early 2026.
