Sci Fi TV Fans: Now Is The Time to Start Shopping Around for Streaming Deals

There are lots of sci fi TV shows and movies available on the streaming services right now, but it can get pretty expensive as you subscribe to more and more of them. One service at ten to fifteen bucks a month is not bad. But if you add another and another and another, it all adds up quickly. And then if you forget to cancel those even though you planned on keeping one or all for just a month or two, your monthly expenses start to escalate.

But if you want your costs for streaming services down to remain on the lower side, now is the time to keep your eyes open. We are approaching Black Friday/Cyber Monday season, and there will be some deals out there worth checking out. Last year, I picked up an annual subscription to Peacock for around thirty bucks, and I got Hulu and Disney+ for only five bucks combined. I also got Paramount+ along with Showtime for somewhere around eight bucks a month, though that was only a three-month deal. But for all of those, I definitely got my money’s worth and saved a fair amount from the regular subscription costs.  And please note that I am not getting paid by any of these services, I am just trying to pass along some info on cost savings.  (Though if they want to throw some money my way, I’ll take it!)

Basically, you just need to keep your eye out for these deals, checking the websites of the services you are interested in subscribing to, or checking for Black Friday deals in your favorite search engine. You will have to start up a new account or restart a cancelled account, because they won’t usually let you apply this to an existing subscription (though I think Peacock did allow me to do that last year). But I have been on the streaming service cycling for quite some time, so that is not a huge issue for me. Also note that typically these deals will be for the plans that include ads, but generally they will also give you the option to upgrade to the no-ad version for an upcharge.

The Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals are starting to trickle in, and I will be listing them below as I see them pop up. I will also be posting info on these on our Twitter, Mastodon, and BlueSky accounts. One deal I have seen is a bundle that includes Hulu, Disney+, and Max for $16.99 a month. That’s not a Black Friday promotion though, so I would hold off if you are considering that to see if they will offer a better price over the next week or so.

The streaming services are great sources of entertainment, but there is no reason to pay a ton of money each month when there are only so many hours in the day that you can spend watching. Now is definitely a good time to keep an eye out to see what deals are available to keep your costs down in the coming year.
