Sci Fi TV News of Note:

Following up on a prior story, HBO and Max chief Casey Bloys has confirmed that a Game of Thrones film is in the works with studio chiefs Michael DeLuca and Pamela Abdy attached along with George R.R. Martin. Bloys had the following to say about the film:

We’ll see if it’s good. We’ll read the scripts along with them. I think it could be fun and interesting. I mean, that’s the point of development, you see is there a story that’s worthy of being in theaters and a big spectacle? I think it would be fun.

Sounds intriguing and it would be interesting to see what they do with the property on the big screen, but I am sure fans would much rather Martin spend his time finishing the Song of Ice and Fire books.

In scheduling news, the long-awaited sixth season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale has received a Spring 2025 premiere window. That will be the show’s final season, but a sequel is in the works based on  Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel The Testaments.

In casting news, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) will be coming aboard Amazon’s Tomb Raider reboot series to play the lead role of Laura Croft. That one will be looking at a late 2025/early 2026 premiere.
