Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.
Schedule Notes:
As October comes to an end, we have reached a point in the schedule where the number of sci fi TV premieres will be dropping off through the end of the year. There are none on the schedule this week, and currently only eight shows are set to premiere through the end of 2024. Wrapping up this week is AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and that one has already been renewed for a third season. Also wrapping up is Disney+’s MCU entry Agatha All Along as well as Peacock’s horror series Teacup. The former is considered a limited series, and there has been no word yet on a second season for the latter. Below are the full listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for November and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:
I have not seen any viewership numbers yet for the movie Wynonna Earp: Vengeance–which is currently streaming on Tubi TV–but apparently series creator Emily Andras is considering the possibility of a spin-off for that property. She is looking at it as a Next Generation type of series, and it would focus on Wynonna’s daughter Alice. There are no firm plans in place for a series at this point, but if the Vengeance film performs well enough, perhaps the spin-off will draw some interest.
As previously reported, Amazon’s fantasy series God of War has gone through some behind-the-scenes shakeups with the departures of showrunner/executive producer Rafe Judkins along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. But the streamer already has new talent on tap as Ronald D. Moore will be coming onboard as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The series is based on the PlayStation 2 game and will apparently be going through a complete reworking after the previous team left due to creative differences.
The upcoming third season of Amazon’s Good Omens was previously announced as its last, and that will end up getting shortened. Instead of the originally planned six episodes, it will end with one 90-minute episode. That is related to the sexual assault allegations made against Neil Gaiman that caused him to depart from the production. He wrote the final installment, but will not be involved with the active production of the third season.
Amazon has revealed that Season 2 of its eco-horror series The Rig will take place in the Arctic, and that Alice Krige (Star Trek: First Contact), and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) will be joining the cast. There is no word on whether production has begun or when the second season will premiere.
