The quest will continue as Amazon has given a fourth season renewal to its Prime Video original The Legend of Vox Machina. That Dungeons & Dragons-inspired animated fantasy series has not spent any notable time in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings (we have not seen the numbers yet for its current season), but it has still performed well for the streamer and has received plenty of positive buzz, currently holding a 100% Fresh Rating and 95% Audience Score across its first three seasons at Rotten Tomatoes. And as of this writing, it is the fourth most popular show on Prime Video according to TelevisionStats.com. Executive producer Sam Riegel had the following to say about the renewal:
We are beyond thrilled – and grateful – to continue the epic and wild adventures of Vex, Vax, Keyleth, Percy, Pike, Grog and everyone’s favorite character – Scanlan. With each season, this show levels up, and we already have big plans to level up both our heroes and villains in Season Four.
Streaming shows tend to wrap up around their third or fourth season, so don’t be surprised if the fourth year for this one is announced as its last. But sometimes animated entries go longer, so it is possible that The Legend of Vox Machina could be around for a few more years. The final three episodes of the third season are available to stream today on Prime Video.
I already had this series as renewed (early word was that they were starting work on the fourth season), so the Cancellation/Renewal Score for the 2024-25 season remains the same at eleven renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (52% of shows tracked) vs. seven cancelled and ending (33%). You can see the breakdown of the numbers and the full list of shows for the current and prior seasons on our Cancellation Watch Page.
The Legend of Vox Machina follows the seven-member misfit group of adventurers known as Vox Machina as they travel around the continent of Tal’Dorei on the planet of Exandria. The voice cast includes Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, and Marisha Ray and it is based on the Critical Role web series.
