Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.

Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:

The Penguin (HBO): Starring Colin Farrell as The Penguin, this DC Studios series continues the epic crime saga that began with Matt Reeves’ blockbuster movie The Batman. Premieres at 9 PM EST on Thursday.

Agatha All Along (Disney+): Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road… The first episode will be available for streaming on Wednesday.

Twilight of the Gods (Netflix): Zack Snyder unleashes a bold and bloody vision of Norse mythology in this adult animated series about a warrior with an ax to grind against the gods. All episodes will be available for viewing on Thursday.

From (MGM+): This series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down. Season 3 premieres Sunday at 9 PM EST.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:

HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, has wrapped up filming. But that does not mean that it will be hitting the small screen in the next few months. Special effects and other aspects of production still need to be added, so expect this one to arrive mid-2025 at the earliest.

In additional production news, it was previously announced that Thanos actor Josh Brolin would be playing Hal Jordan in HBO’s upcoming series Lanterns, but he has decided to pass on the role. And Neil Gaiman has announced that he will be stepping back as showrunner on Good Omens, allowing production on the third season to resume. It was paused amid sexual assault claims against Gaiman.

In scheduling news, the five-episode fourth season of American Horror Stories has received an October 15th premiere date on Hulu.
