Snowpiercer (AMC): Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation based on the acclaimed movie and graphic novel series of the same name. Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (Max): Kite Man and Golden Glider take their relationship to the next level by opening a bar in the shadow of Lex Luthor’s Legion of Doom. Premieres on Thursday.

Sci Fi TV News of Note:
Warner Bros. Discovery continues to move its premium scripted content from Max to HBO. It was previously announced that the Harry Potter TV series, It prequel, and Green Lantern series would be on HBO, and now The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy will be shifting to the cable channel as well. The former is a spin-off from The Batman while the latter is linked to the Denis Villeneuve Dune films. All of these shows will also still stream on Max as well, but they will be promoted as HBO originals as the company appears to pushing its streaming service to second-tier status.
A television adaptation of the Lev Grossman Arthurian novel The Bright Sword is in the works at Lionsgate. Deadline gives the following description for the project:
The Bright Sword follows a gifted young knight named Collum who arrives at Camelot to compete for a spot on the Round Table, only to find that he’s too late. King Arthur is dead, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table survive. They’re the oddballs of the Round Table, and this ragtag fellowship will set out to rebuild Camelot in a world that has lost its balance. It is up to Collum and his companions to reclaim Excalibur, solve the mysteries of this ruined world and make it whole again. But first they’ll have to learn the truth of why the lonely, brilliant King Arthur fell.
No casting choices have been made yet and a showrunner has not been announced. There is also no network or streaming service attached at this point, but the property should draw plenty of interest. Grossman’s The Magicians was previously adapted by Syfy and that ran for five seasons.
In scheduling news, the second season of the Apple TV+ original Severance has finally received a premiere date. That will arrive on January 17th, nearly three years after the first season premiere, and you can see the brief teaser at this link.
