AMC Has Renewed Interview with the Vampire for a Third Season

Coming as no surprise, AMC has given a third season renewal to its supernatural drama Interview with the Vampire ahead of its upcoming second season finale. The same-day linear ratings for the show have not looked great in its second year, averaging only a 0.04 score compared to its 0.09 average for its inaugural year. But this one likely makes up the slack with delayed viewing and streaming on AMC+, even though the network has not shared the stats for the latter. AMC is heavily invested in its Immortal Universe based on the Anne Rice books and that also includes the series Mayfair Witches. They are leveraging this as the franchise to take the baton from The Walking Dead as that one appears to be winding down, though neither Interview nor Mayfair have posted better viewing numbers than the TWD spin-offs.  Still, AMC is going to stick with it for now.

The third season of Interview with the Vampire will keep the franchise moving forward and Deadline has given a tease of what to expect when the show returns:

Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only he can — by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma.

The third season will likely air at some point in Spring 2025, and the second season of Mayfair Witches is currently scheduled to arrive in Fall 2024. The season finale for Interview airs this Sunday at 9 PM EST on AMC.

This announcement brings the Cancellation/Renewal Score for the current season to 29 renewed sci fi and fantasy entries (41% of shows tacked) vs. 16 cancelled and ending (23%). You can see the breakdown of the numbers and the full list of shows for the current and prior seasons at our Cancellation Watch Page.

Interview With The Vampire follows the epic and bloody story of the immortal vampires Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. It stars Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Bailey Bass, and Eric Bogosian and it is based on the books by Anne Rice.
