Sci Fi TV News of Note

Red Dwarf will be returning to the small screen in 2025. According to the British Comedy Guide, a 90-minute feature-length installment will start filming later this year and it will be broken into three 30-minute specials. Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, and Robert Llewellyn will be reprising their roles, but no plot details are available at this time.

The live-action series Silk: Spider Society will not be going forward at Amazon.  That would have followed Cindy Moon who is bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers and she becomes the superhero known as Silk.  Sony was planning to develop several shows based on the Marvel characters it has the rights to and those would have aired on MGM+ and streamed on Prime Video.  Those plans appear to have fallen through and Sony will be shopping Silk to other venues.

In renewal news, Netflix has picked up 3 Body Problem for additional episodes to conclude the story, but the number of seasons has not been announced yet.  Also, Amazon has given The Boys an early fifth-season renewal in advance of its fourth-season premiere in June 2024.

In scheduling news, I have put together the initial Fall 2024 Schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows, and it is looking pretty sparse at this point, especially across the linear networks.  You can see that at this link.
