Sci Fi TV News of Note:

AMC has given a release date for the fourth and final season of Snowpiercer and also indicated when the prior seasons will be available for viewing. The fourth season will make it to the airwaves on July 21st while Seasons 1 and 2 will start streaming on AMC+ on June 1st with Season 3 joining them on June 8th. There is no mention on whether the first three seasons will air on AMC as well, but the cable channel could run a marathon prior to the arrival of the fourth season. That show previously aired on TNT, but it was cut from the schedule when Warner Bros. Discovery was going through its content write-down “strategy”.

Syfy has given a series order to Revival based on the comic book of the same name from Image Comics created by writer Tim Seeley and artist Mike Norton. Deadline gives the following description for the show.

Revival is set on one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin when the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. When local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.

That one is targeting a 2025 premiere.

In Cancellation news, three sci fi/fantasy shows fell this past week as the networks and streaming services are working out their line-ups for the 2024-25 season.  The animated series Scavengers Reign has been cancelled by Max after one season, though it will be moving to Netflix where it could possibly continue for a second season.  Apple TV+ issued a rare cancellation when they announced that their sci fi entry Constellation will not continue to a second season.  And ABC has cancelled its supernatural comedy Not Dead Yet after two seasons.

In casting news, Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery) will be joining Prime Video’s upcoming series Blade Runner 2099, though there is no word on what role she will be playing. The Season 2 cast of Netflix’s Wednesday has been announced, and Percy Hynes White will not be returning as Xavier Thorpe after sexual assault allegations were made against the actor.  Joining the cast is Billie Piper (Doctor Who), Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), and Thandiwe Newton (Westworld).  Over at Max Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) will be coming onboard for Season 2 of Peacemaker to play Rick Flag, Sr. and we will also voice the character in the upcoming animated Creature Comandos.
