Sci Fi TV News of Note:

Kit Harington has announced that the Game of Thrones spin-off series that would have focused on Jon Snow will not be going forward at HBO. He would have starred in and executive produced the show, but the decision was made to put the project on hold for now:

In development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it. And currently, it’s not. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.

HBO currently has the prequel series House of the Dragon heading into its second season and the Dunk and Egg series The Hedge Knight: A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms in the works.

Another revival of the 2006 series Heroes is in the works and the show’s original creator is onboard again.  To be titled Heroes: Eclipse, this one will take place years after the events of the original series as a new group of people discover they have extraordinary powers.  There is no word at this point on whether characters from the original series will make an appearance in the revival.  There is also no indication on whether this will be pegged as an “event series” like 2015’s Heroes Reborn (though that ended on a cliffhanger) or if it will be approached as an ongoing series.  A network has not been announced, but expect the show to be attached to NBC or Peacock.

In renewal and cancellation news, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been picked up for a second season by Apple TV+ and more MonsterVerse spin-offs could be in the works.  Paramount+ has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds through its fourth season ahead of its third-year premiere, and Lower Decks will be ending with it upcoming fifth season.

In production news, James Gunn has announced that the second season of Peacemaker has started filming and that could put it on target for a late-2024 or early-2025 premiere.
