Sci Fi TV News:

HBO has yet another Game of Thrones spin-off in the works based on the Aegon’s Conquest storyline and it will be a prequel to the prequel House of the Dragon. Following is the description provided by The Hollywood Reporter:

The story follows the invader Aegon Targaryen, who conquered the continent of Westeros with his sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons. Aegon successfully unified six of the Seven Kingdoms in just two years, with only Dorne able to successfully resist.

Mattson Tomlin (The Batman Part II) has been enlisted as writer, though this is currently in the development stage and has not received an official greenlight to series yet.

AGC Television is developing a series based on Jason Henderson’s YA Alex Van Helsing trilogy.  Deadline gives the following description for the project:

The show will center around 14-year-old Alex, who has no idea that he’s descended from the world’s most famous vampire hunter. That changes fast when he arrives at Glenarvon Academy and two of his friends are kidnapped by vampires.

No network or streaming service is attached at this point.

Netflix’s big-budget adaptation of Liu Cixin’s 3 Body Problem is set to premiere March 21st, but Peacock will get the jump on that by releasing the Chinese adaptation Three-Body on February 10th.  That 30-episode series was released internationally last year and received a fair amount of acclaim.

Wynonna Earp will ride again as a ninety-minute “special” will stream on Tubi TV later this year.  That will bring back much of the original cast for one more battle against supernatural threats.  You can read more about it at this link.

In renewal news, AMC has given the greenlight to a third season of The Terror over fours years after the second season last aired.  Disney+ has given a second-season nod to Percy Jackson and the Olympians as that one has performed well in viewership in its first season.

In production news, James Gunn has confirmed that he has finished writing the second season of The Peacemaker, but there is no word on when filming will start.  Andor Season 2 has wrapped up filming which means that it could arrive later this year as opposed to the rumored 2025 premiere.  Shooting for the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale is set to start in Summer which could put it on track for a 2025 premiere.
