Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.
Sci Fi TV News:
A reboot of the 1960s spy fi series The Avengers is in the works and could be headed to the small screen in the next year or so. StudioCanal and Wall-to-Wall are producing with Industry‘s Mickey Down and Konrad Kay having written the pilot. The original series followed the debonair secret agent John Steed (played by Patrick Macnee) who had several sexy-yet-deadly female assistants working with him on the cases he investigated played by Diana Rigg, Honor Blackman, and other actresses. No casting has been announced yet and this has not been attached to a network or streaming service, but it should draw plenty of interest.
More changes are coming to Doctor Who as the Doctor’s companion will be departing after one season. Ncuti Gatwa just took over the lead role with Millie Gibson onboard as his companion in what is being referred to as Season 1 of the show (it is actually the fourteenth season of the revival). But word is that a new companion will step in with Gatwa’s second season and will be played by Varada Sethu (Andor). There is no word at this point as to why the cast change is being made, though apparently the decision came from Russell T Davies.
Daredevil: Born Again has re-started production with Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) taking over as showrunner. Jon Bernthal will be returning as The Punisher and word is that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will be back as Karen Page and Foggy Nelsen (they were not originally part of the revival series). At this point, the show is probably looking at an early 2025 premiere.
Filming has begun on the sixth and final season of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows. That supernatural comedy will likely be returning with its final ten episodes later this year.

It is another slow week for sci fi TV with no premieres or finales and only two shows releasing new episodes.
