Sci Fi TV Highlights: A look at the upcoming schedule of sci fi and fantasy shows as well as recent news and/or trailers of note.
Sci Fi TV Premieres This Week:
Carol and the End of the World (Netflix): With a mysterious planet hurtling towards Earth, extinction is imminent for the people of the world. While most feel liberated to pursue their wildest dreams, one quiet and always uncomfortable woman stands alone — lost among the hedonistic masses. Premieres on Friday.
Schedule Notes:
Wrapping up this week is Rick & Morty which will have its Season 7 finale on Sunday. That show has been renewed through its tenth season. I reported previously that NBC’s Quantum Leap was on hiatus, but apparently that was premature. It aired a new episode last week and has another on the schedule this week. Below are the listings for the current week, and you can see all of the premieres for November and beyond at this link. The two-week view of the schedule is available here.

Sci Fi TV News
The previously announced Spider-Man Noir series is moving forward at Amazon and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) will be coming onboard as co-showrunner along with Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox). Variety gives the following description of the project:
The untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. An individual with knowledge of the project says that the show will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be onboard as executive producers.
In renewal news, Peacock announced this past week that its post-apocalyptic comedy Twisted Metal will be getting a second season. And Apple TV+ has given the greenlight to a third season of its sci fi epic Foundation.
In production news, work on Stranger Things Season 5 is set to begin in January 2024.
