Nielsen Streaming Rankings
Star Trek: Picard placed in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the second time in a row for the week of April 17th to 23rd (it also made the Top 10 one time earlier in the season). That was the week of its season finale and it improved to Number 9 with an estimated 400 million minutes viewed. That show is in its final season, but fans are hoping for a Star Trek: Legacy spin-off. Disney+’s The Mandalorian remained in the Top 10 as well, improving to Number 3 with one billion minutes viewed. The fourth season of that show is in the works. Mrs. Davis had its premiere on Peacock that week but did not make it into the Top 10 for originals. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Netflix Top 10
The South Korean post-apocalyptic series Black Knight premiered at the Number 1 slot in the Netflix Top 10 for Non-English Language shows for the week of May 8th to 14th. That one pulled in 33 million hours of viewing and could be on track for a second-season renewal. In the English Language chart, Sweet Tooth Season 2 slipped one slot to Number 3 and pulled in 28 million hours of viewing. That one has been renewed for a third and final season. Ultraman Season 3 had its premiere that week but did not make it into the charts. That is its final season. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
It was a sparse week for genre entries on the linear networks with only three shows airing new episodes. On Wednesday, The CW’s The Flash improved to a 0.10 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 465K total viewers for its penultimate episode. Leading out from that, Riverdale ticked up to a 0.05 rating with 228K total viewers as it airs out its final season.
On Sunday on AMC, Fear the Walking Dead slipped to a new series low as it managed only a 0.07 rating with 465K total viewers. That show is in its final season, but the Walking Dexit continues for that franchise as viewership keeps dropping, and the prospects of the upcoming spin-offs do not look good at this point.

Cancellation/Renewal Score:
Peacock’s Mrs. Davis appears to be done after one season which I discuss in more detail at this link. Also, Apple TV+’s Silo was apparently picked up for two seasons in advance, so that adds one more to the renewal column. That brings the score to 33 cancelled/ending sci fi and fantasy shows so far this year (40% of shows tracked) vs. 34 renewed (41%). Below are this season’s numbers, and you can see the list of shows and keep up with the score throughout the week at our Cancellation Watch Page.
