Cancellation Watch: Ratings results and status updates for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the broadcast networks, cable channels, and streaming services as well as breaking news on the currently airing, returning, and upcoming genre entries.
Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
On Wednesday, Syfy’s The Ark improved to a 0.08 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 463K total viewers for its Season 1 finale. Those were its best numbers since its premiere, and the show has already been renewed for a second season.
Over on ABC, Not Dead Yet improved to a 0.36 rating with 2.3 million total viewers after slipping to a season low last week. If that one can hold around those levels as it wraps up its first season, it might have a shot at a second-season renewal.
On Monday on FOX, Fantasy Island improved slightly to a 0.21 rating with 1.7 million total viewers. That is currently one of the network’s lowest-rated shows, and fans may need to make some noise to help it get to a third season.

Cancellation/Renewal Score:
Disney+ has not made an official renewal announcement for The Mandalorian, but I keep seeing references that the fourth season is in the works, so I am going to go ahead and move it to the renewal column now that it has wrapped up its third year. Conversely, War of the Worlds has not received an official cancellation, but all indications are that it has wrapped up with its third season and I will count it as ended. That keeps the score even with 29 renewals of genre entries so far (36% of shows tracked) and 29 cancelled or ending (36%). Below are this season’s numbers, and you can see the list of shows and keep up with the score throughout the week at our Cancellation Watch Page.
Show Count | 80 | ||
Cancelled | 14 | 17.5% | |
Ending | 15 | 18.8% | 36.3% |
Renewed | 29 | 36.3% | |
On the Bubble | 12 | 15.0% | |
Renewal Possible | 10 | 12.5% |
