Star Wars: The Bad Batch to Get Third and Final Season, Tales of the Jedi Renewed for Second Season

The Star Wars Celebration from this past weekend brought several announcements for the Disney+ television shows in that franchise and that includes renewals for the two animated entries Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Tales of the Jedi. The former series just wrapped up its second season and the executive producers announced that it will be returning for a third and final season which is already in the works. That spin-off from Star Wars: The Clone Wars has proven popular across its first two seasons, currently holding an 88% Fresh Rating and 84% Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes. According to Whip Media, the show was one of the most-streamed across all platforms during its second season, though it did not show up in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings. No details have been released on the third season at this point.

Tales of the Jedi released six episodes in Fall 2022 and it currently holds a 100% Fresh Rating and 93% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Dave Filoni announced the second season during the Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel, though no details were given on which characters would receive the focus.

These two renewals bring the total for the season to 27 (35% of shows tracked) vs. 28 cancelled and ending shows (36%). That is the closest to even those numbers have been for a while. Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows Clone Force 99–also known as the Bad Batch–which is a group of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations which make them particularly qualified for the mercenary missions they take on. The voice cast includes Dee Bradley Baker, Michelle Ang, Ben Diskin, and Stephen Stanton

Tales of the Jedi is an anthology series focusing on various members of the Jedi Order in the Star Wars Universe. The first season had two three-episode arcs focusing on Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. The voice cast includes Ashley Eckstein, Corey Burton, Janina Gavankar, TC Carson, Liam Neeson, and Micheál Richardson.
