Nielsen Streaming Top 10
Netflix’s supernatural drama Lockwood & Co. entered into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for originals the week of January 23rd to 29th. That was the week of its premiere and it placed at the Number 6 slot with an estimated 450 million minutes of viewing. That is good for a show that had little to no promotion, but it has since dropped out of the Netlix Top 10 (see below) giving it that dreaded three-week run in that chart. That suggests that it does not have the completion rate that Netflix execs are looking for and we have seen shows like The Imperfects, The Midnight Club, and Warrior Nun get cancelled after similar three-week runs in the charts. I will be moving Lockwood & Co. to Bubble status and fans should do what they can to get the word out about the show. Wolf Pack had its premiere on Paramount+ that week, but Nielsen is not tracking that streamer yet.
In the Top 10 for acquired shows, HBO’s The Last of Us (Renewed) held at Number 3 with 877 million minutes viewed while The Walking Dead remained at Number 1 with over one billion minutes of viewing for its encore run on Netflix. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Netflix Top 10:
There was not much activity in the Netflix Top 10 for the week of February 13th to 19th. As mentioned above, Lockwood & Co. dropped out of the charts while Wednesday (Renewed) slipped to Number 5 with 20 million hours of viewing. In the Non-English Language chart, the Korean supernatural drama Alchemy of Souls Part 2 slipped to Number 9 with 12 million hours of viewing but could be on track to return with more episodes. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

You might be interested to know that the MGM+ horror series “From” –the 2nd season which is to premier in late April of this year — has already been renewed for a 3rd season, according to “Gizmodo.” Production is suppose to start this May:

(I really enjoy this series for its originality and its creepiness.)
Of course, in this production environment where there are now such things *Unrenewals*, I won’t actually believe in this 3rd season until it is shown.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up.
