Yet another cancellation to start out the year as Peacock has announced that it will not be going forward with a second season of Vampire Academy. The series comes from The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec and allegedly the streamer was happy with the show creatively but it did not develop much of an audience. The fact that it was not well-promoted may have had something to do with that. Viewership for Peacock is not tracked by the Nielsen Streaming Rankings, and the streamer never released any audience stats for the show. Vampire Academy is one of several young adult supernatural dramas to arrive on the streaming services over the past six months or so amidst heavy competition. Peacock has still not established itself as one of the upper-tier streamers, and it has had difficulties in attracting viewers to its originals. It has also not released many high-profile series and has also not done much to promote its scripted series (though it appears to be changing that strategy to start off the new year). There is no word at this time on whether the show will be shopped around, but I imagine that fans will make a Call to Action on the social networks to save it.
Vampire Academy follows two young women who develop a friendship that transcends their very different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter royal vampire society. It stars Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, and J. August Richards and it is based on the book series of the same name by Richelle Mead.

Peacock does feature in the Nielsen streaming chart now, in fact it just got it’s first original series on the chart this week with “Best Man: The Final Chapters”. Also Yellowstone has been regularly featured on the acquired series chart since about November. However, I’m not sure if Nielsen was tracking Peacock in September when Vampire Academy was released.
Nielsen has not updated its footnote to indicate Peacock is included: “Source: Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings (Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, and Apple TV+), Nielsen National TV Panel, U.S. Viewing through Television.”
But you are right, I do see Best Man: The Final Chapters included in this week’s chart.
