Digital Ratings: Manifest Soars to Number 1 at Netflix, The Midnight Club Improves in the Nielsen Rankings, and More

Digital Ratings: Viewership results for the sci fi and fantasy shows on the streaming services. See our Cancellation Watch posts for the linear ratings from the broadcast networks and cable shows.

Netflix Top 10:

Part 1 of the fourth and final season of Manifest arrived on Netflix the week of October 31st to November 6th and the show landed at the Number 1 slot. It had 57 million hours watched across three days (it premiered on Friday), and I expect those numbers to increase based on the show’s previous performance for the streamer. The first season of that show also made a return entry at the Number 10 slot. Cabinet of Curiosities slipped to Number 5 with 39 million hours viewed while The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself held at Number 7 with 30 million hours. Whether that is enough to keep either of those shows going to a second season is anyone’s guess seeing as Netflix has been in cancelling mode of late. Season 4 of The Dragon Prince had its release that week but did not make it into the Top 10.  But that one has already been renewed through its seventh season. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Netflix Top 10 for the Week of Oct-31 to Nov-6

English Language Shows
1 (n/a) Manifest: Season 4 57.0 Million Hours
5 (3) Cabinet of Curiosities 38.8 Million Hours
7 (7) The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself 30.1 Million Hours
10 (n/a) Manifest: Season 1 20.3 Million Hours

Non-English Language Shows
4 (8) If Only 15.0 Million Hours

Nielsen Streaming Top 10

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power held at the Number 2 slot for the week of October 10th to 16th. I am seeing the entertainment media claim that viewership for that show dropped off through its run, but that is not what I am seeing as it increased to 1.1 billion minutes that week and has hovered around or above the billion mark since it was released. That one has already been renewed for a second season. Netflix’s The Midnight Club improved to Number 4 with 867 million minutes viewed, but who knows what shows that streamer will cancel or renew these days. The Handmaid’s Tale, She-Hulk, and Andor all remained in the Top 10, though the latter two jumped ahead of the former this past week. And HBO Max’s House of the Dragon remained at Number 1 in the chart for acquired shows with 860 million minutes viewed. It has already been renewed for a second season. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the Week of Oct-3 to Oct-9

Streaming Originals
2 (2) The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Amazon) 1.1 Billion Minutes
4 (9) The Midnight Club (Netflix) 867 Million Minutes
5 (7) She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (Disney+) 526 Million Minutes
7 (10) Andor (Disney+) 405 Million Minutes
8 (8) The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) 403 Million Minutes
