Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
The CW’s Supernatural spin-off The Winchesters had its debut last Tuesday and posted a 0.12 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 781K total viewers. That counts the show as the second highest-rated on the network this season and off to a good start. The curious onlooker effect probably drew a lot of fans from the parent series to the show’s premiere, so we will have to see if they stick with it in the coming weeks.
On Monday last week, Quantum Leap improved for a second week in a row, posting a 0.40 rating in the demo with 2.5 million total viewers. That is still a 46% drop for the audience from its lead-in from The Voice, but it is the best ratings score since the premiere and suggests the show is starting to build its audience. La Brea‘s numbers dropped for NBC on Tuesday as it slipped to a 0.38 rating with 3.5 million total viewers which is not great for the 9 PM hour on that night. I don’t consider the show to be in trouble just yet, but if it drops much lower that could change.
On Wednesday on Syfy, Chucky took a notable drop with its second Season 2 episode posting a 0.08 rating with 219K total viewers along with a 0.08 score and 209K total viewers from its simulcast on USA. That may just be a blip or possibly viewers are already losing interest in the television continuation of the franchise. We will have to see how it tracks in the coming weeks. Reginald the Vampire also slipped that night, posting only a 0.04 rating with 175K total viewers and it could be heading to Bubble status soon.
On Thursday, Ghosts posted its best numbers of the season for CBS with a 0.63 rating and 6.5 million total viewers. At this point, a Season 3 renewal is looking like a good bet for that show. Over on FXX Little Demon held at a 0.08 rating with 187K total viewers which counts as good numbers for that cable net.
On Sunday, The Walking Dead improved slightly to a 0.31 rating with 1.4 million total viewers as it continues to air out its final season. Interview With The Vampire held steadily low at a 0.09 rating with 445K total viewers, but it has already been renewed for a second season. Let the Right One In once again did not make it into the Cable Top 150 and that show is officially On the Bubble now.

Status Updates:
Avenue 5 (HBO, Cancellation Likely): This sci fi comedy had its second season debut this week but did not make it into the Cable Top 150 and viewership numbers are not available for it. The show had a long delay between its first and second season due to COVID-related shutdowns, and because of that the cast has been released from their contracts. Series creator Armando Iannucci insists the show is not cancelled, but considering that it never had much of an audience to begin with and it is not even registering with its second season, a third year seems highly unlikely unless fans make some noise on the social networks.
The Nevers (HBO, On the Bubble): Word is that this show will be back for the second half of its first season later this year, but it is another one that had been on an extended hiatus. I have not heard if the contracts for the cast and crew of this show have expired, but it is certainly a possibility after a year and a half has passed. Its numbers were decent across its first six episodes, but it will need a strong showing for the second half of its first season run if it wants any shot at renewal. A Call to Action from fans on the social networks would surely help to bring it some attention.
Carnival Row (Prime Video, On the Bubble): This is yet another show that has been on extended hiatus, with the first season releasing all episodes in August 2019. Word is that the second season is completed, but it has not received a release date yet. There are rumors that its second season will be its last, but those have not been confirmed. This show could also use a Call to Action from fans to give it a boost.
Blood and Treasure (Paramount+, On the Bubble): Still another show that went on extended hiatus due to the production shutdowns, this one could be on the way out. The second season streamed this past Summer on Paramount+ (jumping over from CBS), and the contracts for the cast and crew have likely expired. Matt Barr is currently in a leading role on Walker: Independence, though it is not impossible he could juggle both shows since they are under the Paramount umbrella. But Blood and Treasure was expensive to produce with its international location shooting, and the show wrapped up many of its storylines by the end of the second season. Consider this one likely done unless a Call to Action from fans can convince the network to bring it back for another year.
