Harley Quinn Renewed by HBO Max for Fourth Season

HBO Max has been going through some shakeups with the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger and it has cancelled several shows including Raised by Wolves (more on that at this link). But one show just found out that it will stick around for another season as the adult-animated Harley Quinn has been renewed for a fourth year. That show got its start on the now-defunct DC Universe streaming and moved over to HBO Max with its third season. That premeried in August, but the future seemed uncertain with the streamer pulling multiple shows in the wake of the merger. The show did get the nod for another season, though, which may be a good sign for other DC properties like Titans and Doom Patrol.  HBO Max Senior VP of Comedy and Animation Billy Wee had this to say about the renewal:

Patrick Schumacker, Justin Halpern and their incredible team of artists and writers have created something so explosively funny and original, and we are thrilled to continue this journey with them and the show’s legion of fans. It has been amazing to watch the show grow and evolve this season and we could not ask for a more talented and dedicated team of collaborators.

Schumacker and Halpern will be stepping down as showrunners, but long-time HQ writer Sarah Peters will be taking over the role for the fourth seasons. Harley Quinn has not made it into the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 yet for its third season, but word is that viewership has been strong overall for the show. The current season will consist of ten episodes and the fourth season will premiere at some point in 2023.

Harley Quinn focuses on the titular anti-hero as she sets out on her own in Gotham City following her breakup with the Joker. The voice cast includes Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Ron Funches, Tony Hale, Jason Alexander, and Alan Tudyk.
