Netflix Top 10:
The Sandman held at the Number 1 slot in the Netflix Top 10 for English Language shows for the week of August 15th to 21st, though total viewership dropped. It pulled in 77 million hours viewed which was down from the 128 million hours it had the prior week. Series creator Neil Gaiman has warned that this is an expensive show and needs to pull strong viewership to get a second season. I can’t see how Netflix can complain so far, but we will have to see how this one tracks in the coming weeks. Stranger Things Season 4 and Locke & Key Season 3 traded places from last week, but both remained in the Top 5. The Mexican supernatural drama The Girl in the Mirror placed in the Top 10 for Non-English Language shows for the week of its premiere, landing at Number 9 with eight million hours viewed. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Linear Ratings Results of Interest:
On Sunday, HBO’s House of the Dragon improved on its premiere ratings, rising to a 0.59 score based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic with 2.3 million total viewers. Across all platforms and with encore runs, it pulled in over ten million viewers according to the cable service. Not surprisingly, that one has already been renewed for a second season. Over on AMC, Tales of the Walking Dead improved slightly to a 0.10 rating with 430K total viewers for its Alpha-centric episode.
On Thursday, the adult-animated comedy Little Demon had its premiere on FXX and pulled a 0.09 rating in the demo with 264K total viewers. If it holds around those levels, that may be enough to get it to a second season. Over on Adult Swim, Primal slipped a bit to a 0.10 with 216K total viewers, but it could still be on track for a third season renewal.
Syfy’s Resident Alien improved to a 0.10 rating with 744K total viewers on Wednesday. That show has already been renewed for a third season. On Tuesday, FX’s What We Do in the Shadows held at a 0.09 rating with 287K total viewers. It has been renewed through its sixth season.

Nielsen Streaming Top 10
The Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for originals was pretty sparse as far as genre entries go for the week of July 25th to July 31st with only two shows in the rankings. Netflix’s Stranger Things held at Number 2 with an estimated 1.8 billion minutes viewed. And The Umbrella Academy slipped to Number 8 with 399 million minutes viewed. Both shows will be returning for their final seasons next year. The third season of Harley Quinn had its premiere on HBO Max that week and Paper Girls debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video, but neither made it into the rankings. In the Top 10 for Acquired shows, Game of Thrones took over the Number 7 slot for HBO Max with 368 million minutes viewed. Interest in that show was likely up ahead of the premiere of House of the Dragon. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):
