The Apple TV+ post-apocalyptic series See, which stars Jason Momoa, will be coming to an end with its upcoming third season. That has become a typical run for streaming originals, producing three to four seasons with the final year announced in advance as the last. Another genre entry on that streaming service which is following a similar trajectory is Servant which will wrap up with its upcoming fourth season. See‘s star Jason Momoa is currently very much in demand on the big screen, so this show was probably never intended for an extended run. Executive producer Jonathan Tropper had the following to say about the show wrapping up:
We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of See, which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action, and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story. Building a world without sight was a particularly unique and continuous challenge that was met through the passionate and thoughtful collaboration of a phenomenally talented and diverse team both in front of and behind the camera. The show has been a monumental labor of love for all involved, and we are eternally grateful for the way See has been embraced by viewers around the world.
Not much in the way of viewership stats were shared for See, but I don’t believe this was one of the most-watch originals on the service, nor did it receive as much buzz as For All Mankind, Severance, or non-genre entry Ted Lasso. The final season will premiere August 26th and it will consist of eight episodes.
See takes place on a brutal post-apocalyptic Earth where a virus has wiped out most of the population of the planet and left the survivors without sight. When two children are born who can see, they and their tribe are hunted for the heresy of being “sighted”. It stars Jason Momoa, Sylvia Hoeks, Hera Hilmar, Christian Camargo, Archie Madekwe, and Alfre Woodard.
The 2021-22 regular season has ended, but there are still quite a number of shows waiting for word on their fate (more on that at this link) plus several Summer entries.
