Digital Ratings: Halo The Series Sets Viewership Records for Paramount+, Cracow Monsters Hits the Netflix Top 10

Halo The Series had its debut on Paramount+ on Wednesday, and according to that streamer it set a viewership record in its first twenty-four hours.  No numbers were provided (that streamer is not tracked in the Nielsen Rankings), but the show topped the record previously set by the Yellowstone prequel series 1883Halo The Series is based on the popular Xbox video game and it has already been renewed for a second season.  If the viewership numbers remain strong, expect this one to stick around a few more years and possibly expand into a multi-series franchise.

Netflix Top 10

For the fourth week in a row, there were no sci fi and fantasy entries in the Netflix Top 10 for English Language shows (the week of March 21st to 27th). Of course, there have been no premieres in the genre since mid-February, so that does not come as a huge surprise.  In the Non-English Language list, the Polish horror series Cracow Monsters premiered at the Number 5 slot in its second week of release with thirteen million hours viewed.  We will have to see how it tracks in the coming weeks to gauge its chances of getting a second season.  The Korean Zombie series All of Us Are Dead was in the Top 10 for a ninth week in a row, though it dropped to the Number 7 slot with 11 million hours viewed.  Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the Netflix charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Nielsen Streaming Top 10

For the first that I can recall since tracking the Nielsen Streaming Rankings (which started last Summer), there were no genre entries in the Top 10 for scripted originals (the week of February 28th to March 6th).  The animated spin-off series The Boys Presents Diabolical had its premiere that week on Amazon’s Prime Video, but it did not make it into the Top 10. Star Trek: Picard also had its premiere that week on Paramount+, but that streamer is not tracked in the Nielsen Streaming Rankings at this point.  In the Top 10 for acquired shows, Supernatural held steady at Number 6 with an estimated 339 million minutes of viewing. Following are all the sci fi and fantasy TV shows on the streaming charts for the week (the number in parenthesis is the prior week rank):

Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the Week of Feb-28 to Mar-6

Streaming Originals
