There has been no official word on the status of the sci fi drama Pandora since it wrapped up its second season in Fall 2020, but a third season could be in the works and the show could be headed to a new network. That one was originally acquired by The CW to pad out its scripted offerings during the Summer months, and the first season had acceptable numbers based on linear viewing. The second season was pushed to Fall due to the COVID-related production delays, and its numbers dropped notably, averaging only a 0.07 rating based on same-day viewing for the 18-49 demographic. There has since been no word from The CW on a third season and there had been reports that the show was cancelled. The network typically allows its regular season shows to go for at least four years once they make it past their first season, but Pandora is a Summer acquisition that has other factors driving its fate. In September 2021, series creator and showrunner Mark A. Altman put out the following tweet suggesting that a third season of the show was moving forward (I messaged Altman for confirmation but did not receive a response):

And according to a recent post on TVLine.com, “a source close to the production” has indicated that work on the show’s third season is in fact underway (thanks to Stephen Fine for bringing that to our attention). The series also has international financing and syndication deals propping it up, and TVLine indicates that it will move to a new network in the U.S. for Season 3. Note that none of this counts as an official confirmation that Pandora will be returning, but it should still count as promising news for fans of the show. Those followers should definitely take to the social networks for a Call to Action to bring more attention to it and help it to find a new network in case it is on the move.
Pandora follows a young woman who joins the Earth’s Space Training Academy after having lost her family. There she is trained to defend against threats both alien and human while also learning the hidden truth of her own identity. It stars Priscilla Quintana, Oliver Dench, Raechelle Banno, and John Harlan Kim.
