Sci Fi/Fantasy TV Shows Premiering This Week

This week brings two sci fi TV premieres on the linear channels, one new show and one returning for its second season.

La Brea (Premieres on NBC September 28th): An epic adventure begins when a massive sinkhole opens in the middle of Los Angeles, pulling hundreds of people and buildings into its depths. Those who fell in find themselves in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land, where they have no choice but to band together to survive. Meanwhile, the rest of the world desperately seeks to understand what happened. In the search for answers, one family torn apart by this disaster will have to unlock the secrets of this inexplicable event to find a way back to each other. Premieres Tuesday on NBC at 9 PM EST.


The Walking Dead: World Beyond (Season 2 Premieres on AMC October 3rd): A heroic group of teens sheltered from the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world leave the safety of the only home they have ever known and embark on a cross-country journey to find the one man who can possibly save the world. Season 2 premieres Sunday on AMC at 10 PM EST.

  1. Wellington Paranormal season is over – no episode on Oct 3rd.
    No new episodes scheduled for the time being the next
    season (3rd) has shown in New Zealand already,
    but has not been scheduled here in United States yet.

    1. Thanks for the heads up. The schedule I check each week originally showed a new episode, but that has since been changed.

    Lower Decks has Not been on Hiatus, but you have labeled
    it so the last few weeks.

    Marvel’s “What If?” has been streaming on DisneyTV on Wednesday for a
    number of weeks. I am not sure if it would be classified as science-fiction.
