Cursed Has Been Cancelled by Netflix aftre One Season

Coming as no surprise, Netflix has officially announced the cancellation of Cursed after one season.  That fantasy series first debuted a year ago in July 2020, and there had been no word on its fate since then,  Early reports suggested that viewership was good when it debuted, but that was shortly before Nielsen began its Streaming Top 10, so no publisehd numbers were available.  I had also heard that plans for a second season were delayed due to pandemic-related production shutdowns.  But as the months rolled on and there were no updates on the show, it appeared that its fate was in doubt and I moved the show to Bubble status.  The actors contracts had likely expired by this time, so it seemed unlikely a second season would happen.  Netflix has now confirmed the cancellation, but no reason has been given, though that streamer has been on a cancelling spree of late (watch for the upcoming Netflix scorecard).  It received somewhat positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, currently holding a 67% Fresh Rating, though it only has a 53% audience Score. Whether fans will fight to save the show remains to be seen.

Cursed reimagines the King Arthur mythos from the perspective of the young woman who is destined to become the Lady of the Lake. It stars Katherine Langford, Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgård, Daniel Sharman, and Sebastian Armesto and it is based on the comic of the same name created by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler.
