Apple TV+ Gives Early Season 3 Renewal to See Prior to its Second Season Premiere

Unlike Netflix, which has started cancelling its originals like it is a bodily function, Apple TV+ has continued to support its scripted programming.  The streamer has given a third season renewal to its post-apocalyptic drama See ahead of the show’s upcoming second season premiere.  The early renewal has become pretty standard for the streaming service with shows like For All Mankind and Servant also receiving similar Season 3 nods.  So far, the only genre entry that has not been renewed by Apple TV+ is Amazing Stories which appears to be one-and-done (though there has not been an official cancellation announcement).  The streamer has not shared much in the way of its viewing numbers, but shows like For All Mankind and See have performed well for the service based on the data available.  See only received mixed reviews from critics for its first season, currently holding only a 43% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it has registered well with viewers as the Audience Score is at 85%.  The second season was delayed due to pandemic-related shutdowns, but it is now set to premiere on August 27th.

See takes place in a post-apocalyptic future when humans have lost their sight.  But one man can see and his child is protected by the tribe of Baba Voss from those who seek to destroy the ones guilty of the heresy of being “sighted”.  It stars Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodard, Yadira Guevara-Prip, Nesta Cooper, and Sylvia Hoeks with David Bautista joining the cast in the second season.
