Disney+’s MCU series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier had its debut the week of March 15-21 and the show got off to a strong start in the Nielsen Streaming Ratings. It landed at the Number 2 slot in the Top 10 for original series with an estimated 495 million minutes of viewing. And that was not the only offering from the Mouse House in the Top 10 as WandaVision continued to hang on despite wrapping up new episodes two weeks prior. That show slipped a few slots to Number 6, but still pulled in 252 million minutes of viewing. Netflix’s Lucifer returned to the Top 10 for streaming originals, probably building on anticipation for the Season 5B release on May 28th. It ducked in at the Number 10 slot with 174 million minutes of viewing. In the Top 10 for acquired series, Supernatural improved to Number 7 and pulled in 358 million minutes of viewing for its encore run on Netflix. You can see the full rankings at this link.
The Nielsen Streaming Ratings rank the shows/movies on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu based on the number of minutes watched during the week by U.S. viewers on television sets (mobile devices are not included at this point). The numbers are extrapolated based on the Nielsen sampling of families who have meters monitoring their viewing habits. Also note, shows with more episodes available will tend to have a higher number of minutes watched.
