Chris Carter’s Millennium from 1996 is not currently available on any of the major streaming services, but if fans make enough noise perhaps it will get picked up.
Millennium Was an Important Series That Has Since Been Mostly Forgotten
Chris Carter’s second show for FOX after The X-Files was the supernatural-tinged thriller Millennium, and it got off to a good start in 1996. This series focuses on ex-FBI agent Frank Black who previously worked for the Burea as a criminal profiler and who has a unique ability to “see” the crime scene from the eyes of the killer. He now works as a consultant for the mysterious Millennium group solving crimes while also looking for evidence to support the group’s belief that evil forces are coming together and present a threat to humanity as the end of the second millennium approaches. It started out with high ratings for its premiere, but the numbers trended down over its three-season run, and FOX cancelled the show after it wrapped up its third year on a cliffhanger.
Millennium accomplished a lot during its run, and it was very different from the other offerings on television at the time it aired. In many ways acted as the predecessor to dark TV that would become more popular in the 2000’s with shows like The Sopranos, Dexter, and Breaking Bad. It also delivered a very cinematic experience, something we have taken for granted of late with the high production values we see from the streaming originals and other high-profile series, but which was not common at that time. Millennium Did Not Have as Large of a Following as The X-Files, But It Made Its Mark
Millennium delivered high ratings for its premiere but did not manage to sustain that viewership over its three-year run. The X-Files on the other hand started out as a low-rated show with a cult following that slowly built its audience until it turned into a Top 20 hit for FOX. That one has since become a well known and respected sci fi TV entry that even earned two revival seasons in the 2010’s. Meanwhile, Millennium has been relegated to cult status and has never received the same recognition as the longer-running Chris Carter show. More exposure on one or more of the streaming services could change that, though.
The X-Files has been available for streaming for quite some time and all eleven seasons are currently available exclusively on Hulu. Both this show and Millennium originally came from 20th Century FOX Television, and I believe with the Disney buyout they are now under the umbrella of the Mouse House. Hulu would therefore be a perfect landing spot for Millennium since it is also owned by Disney (the new Disney+ service is likely too family-friendly). The show has not had a run on any of the streaming services that I am aware of (and sadly the DVDs are out of print as well), but I believe that it would draw plenty of interest if Hulu or another venue were to add it. There are also attempts to revive the show and give it a proper ending (supported by Lance Henriksen and more from the cast and crew), and a streaming run could help with those efforts. How Can Fans Get Millennium Streaming?
While Millennium has not been made available for streaming yet, enough noise from the show’s fans could result in it getting picked up by one of the many platforms out there. These services provide a means to suggest shows (if you dig deep enough on their sites), and if fans were to request the show en masse while also making noise on the social networks, that would definitely draw some attention. Hulu is an obvious target for the show, but so is AMC’s horror-focused Shudder, and it is always worth lobbying Netflix as well. Below are the links to the request forms for those services. If you know of others that would be a good location for the show, include that info in the comments section. If enough people request the show and bring attention to it on the social nets, then Millennium could get picked up and perhaps that could also lead to an attempt to get the show the ending it deserves.

According to Chris Carter, the music rights have held up being offered for streaming. As a result, the price of the DVD’s is through the roof, even for used sets on ebay.
Please somebody get Millennium with Lance Hendrickson and make it available for streaming!!!
Just asked Netflix but we need more people to request this brilliant series as that will be the only way to get it back streaming. I live in the U.K. and my whole family tuned in every week to watch this so going to ask all of them now they have all left the nest.
Three old eps of the x-files run every weeknight on the TV channel comet. Where I live, they run from 10 pm EDT to 1 am EDT. Comet shows sci-fi, fantasy, and horror re-runs, so the lone gunmen and millenium would be a perfect fit!
Please someone consider streaming Millennium.
It’s weird that Hulu isn’t streaming Millennium, Harsh Realm, or The Lone Gunmen. I would really like to be able to watch all 3 again.
HULU they have the x files this would be an amazing follow up
