I am located in Texas which is currently paralyzed by a Winter storm. (People in the northern states would just laugh at us, though. This is a Fall day to them). Power and internet are sporadic, so posting is delayed (Sunday Nielsens are delayed to today anyway due to the holiday). Posting will resume once the power is restored and my hands thaw out!

Hope you’re keeping warm Johnny. It’s pretty cold in the UK too. -8C (17F) a couple of nights ago in England, Scotland was even colder, but it always is – it’s Scotland 😀 but at least we have power. It sucks what going on in Texas.
Looks like the worst has passed. And it never got too bad where I am, apart from the power and internet outages. Maybe this will convince Texas leadership that we need to be prepared for more than just Summer weather.
I don’t fully understand the situation in Texas, but I gather that Texas is not part of the national grid? And they did their own thing – private companies that have not invested enough?
Some people are blaming “green energy” which is BS. Texas is loved for many things but being Green is not one of them:D
Anyway, keep safe. Love you site man.
Yes, Texas has its own grid and green energy was not the problem even though our governor tried to blame the issue on that. Sure, some of the wind turbines froze up, but those were only supplying a fraction of the power (and northern states have figured out how to protect their turbines from the elements). Controls at the coal and natural gas plants froze up and that caused the main problem. We were warned ten years ago that our grid was not prepared for this type of weather and ten years before that. Sure, we don’t get conditions like this too often, but it does happen and people died this time just like before. Whether we learned our lesson this time remains to be seen, but I’ll be voting against the politicians who failed to take the proper action in the next election.
