Disney+’s MCU series Wandavision had its debut the week of January 11th to 17th and landed in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for original series. The show started out at the Number 6 slot and had an estimated 434 million minutes of viewership (its actual debut was on the 15th, so that was over a three-day period). Netflix’s animated fantasy series Disenchantment had its Part 3 premiere that week and placed at Number 7 with 401 million toal minutes. Servant premiered on Apple TV+ that week, but that streamer is not included in these rankings yet.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina remained in the Top 10, though it slipped to the Number 5 slot. That one had 494 million minutes of viewing, and Netflix may want to reconsider its decision to cancel the show. Disney+’s The Mandalorian remained in the Top 10, but it slipped all the way to Number 10 and pulled in 339 million minutes of viewing. This is the first time that streamer has had two shows in the Top 10. Supernatural continued to place in the Top 10 list for acquired shows, ranking at the Number 4 slot with 591 million minutes for its encore run on Netflix.
The Nielsen Streaming Ratings rank the shows/movies on Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu based on the number of minutes watched during the week by U.S. viewers on television sets (mobile devices are not included at this point). The numbers are extrapolated based on the Nielsen sampling of families who have meters monitoring their viewing habits. Also note, shows with more episodes available will tend to have a higher number of minutes watched.
