Apple TV+ has handed out another early renewal as it has given the greenlight to a third season to its supernatural drama Servant ahead of the show’s second season premiere which is scheduled for January 15th. Last week, the streamer handed out a third season renewal for its alternate-history series For All Mankind ahead of that show’s second-year bow in February. Both of these shows, along with fantasy entry See, received second season renewals prior to their first season premieres which seems to be standard practice for Apple TV+ with most of its originals. Servant has been well-received by critics and viewers so far, currently holding an 83% Fresh Rating and 82% Audience Score at Rotten Tomatoes. The show peaked at Number 19 on IMDb Pro’s MOVIEmeter for the week of its release in November 2019 and had an average rank of 78 across the eight weeks it released new episodes. That is not a particularly strong ranking, but perhaps not bad for an original on new streaming service. Executive producer M. Night Shyamalan has said that he has plans for the show to run six seasons and 60 episodes and the third season renewal gets it halfway to that mark.
Servant focuses on a Philadelphia couple mourning a great loss which creates a rift in their marriage allowing a mysterious force to enter their home. It stars Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint.
