Weekly roundup of science fiction and fantasy shows (as well as movies/specials of note) on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.
Fall kicks into high gear this week, or at least as high of a gear as it will be in during this pandemic-impacted season. On Tuesday, FOX’s long-awaited AI-series NeXt (originally scheduled for a Spring 2020 premiere) has its debut in the 10 PM EST slot. That one is being billed as an “event series”, but could continue if viewership is strong enough. Earlier on that night, The CW kicks off its encore run of Swamp Thing which previously ran on the DC Universe streaming service (it was cancelled after one season, but there are hopes that it can continue on The CW). On Thursday, The CW’s Supernatural returns to air the final seven episodes of its 15th and final season which were delayed due to the production shutdowns. In the lead-our hour from that, The Outpost returns for its third season which was delayed from a Summer start. On Friday, Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor (from the same producers as The Haunting of Hill House) has its premiere with all episodes available for viewing. Also Friday, The Right Stuff has its debut on Disney+. Then on Sunday, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead returns for its sixth season which was delayed from a Summer start. Also of interest, on Saturday on AMC the second season of Eli Roth’s History of Horror kicks off.
Wrapping up this week, Star Trek: Lower Decks has its Season 1 finale on CBS All Access on Thursday. That show was renewed for a second season in advance. And then on Friday, Amazon’s superhero series The Boys has its season finale. That show has been renewed for a third season and a spin-off series is in the works as well. HBO Max’s Raised by Wolves had its season finale last week and it is set to return in 2021 with its second season. There are still more sci fi and fantasy shows on the way this Fall, and you can see the full schedule at this link.

Schedule Notes: If a show is listed as On Hiatus, that means that it is taking a break of more than two episodes in a row. If a streaming series is included in the listings after its premiere date, then it releases new episodes once per week on that day as opposed to releasing its entire season at one time.
