Coming as no surprise, Hulu has renewed its animated sci fi comedy Solar Opposites for a third season. The show is currently in its first season and the second season renewal was made in advance of its premiere. Hulu indicated last month that the series, which comes from the Rick and Morty team, is its top original comedy and it was the second-most-watched show on the streaming service during its premiere week. In addition, animated shows have not been as heavily impacted by the production shutdowns, so the networks are certainly looking to load up on those for the next year. The first season debuted early in May and the second should arrive during the first half of 2021.
Solar Opposites follow four aliens who escape from their dying planet and crashland on Earth into a move-in ready home in suburban America. The voice cast includes Justin Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, and Mary Mack.
There are still more renewal and cancellation announcements on the way for shows such as Syfy’s Vagrant Queen and Freeforms’ Siren.
