Amazon announced yesterday that its cyber-comedy series Upload will be returning for a second season. That show comes from The Office creator Greg Daniels and stars Arrow-verse veteran Robbie Amell and had its first season premiere on May 1st. The show had gone under the radar and was not one that we were tracking as a current sci fi TV entry. To my knowledge, Amazon did not promote this one extensively as has become the norm for the streaming services. But apparently fans of The Office got the word as Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, has noted that the show has already developed a “devoted audience”. The second season will likely debut at some point in 2021.
Upload takes place in a near-future where people can “upload” themselves into a virtual afterlife of their choosing. It focuses on one man who dies unexpectedly and finds himself uploaded in an afterlife that he starts to regret choosing. It stars Robbie Amell, Allegra Edwards, Andy Allo, and Zainab Johnson.
There are still more renewal and cancellation announcements on the way as the season wraps up, but those may be spaced out over the next few weeks as the networks have staggered their Upfronts when they will unveil their schedules for next season. You can see the status of all the currently airing, returning, and upcoming sci fi and fantasy shows on our Cancellation Watch Page. And be sure to stay tuned to this site and the Cancelled Sci Fi Twitter Site for breaking news and updates.

“at some point in 20201”
It’s a nice show and all, but I’m not waiting 18,181 years for season 2. Sorry.
Oops. Corrected now.
